Well, I’m back with another gummy recipe! The last gummy recipe I did was for sleep (click here to see) and I stuffed it full of medicinal goodness! The problem was it wasn’t as yummy as I wanted it to be, it was definitely a medicine. This time I really wanted to focus on making a gummy that was delicious first and medicinal second.
I wanted to basically make a keto candy that I could grab a handful of to snack on when I get a craving for something sweet. I originally wasn’t going to make it medicinal at all but being me, I just had to add a little something extra to make the calories worth it for the nutrition <3
I did, however, only select vitamins that had no taste or had a flavor that matched the flavor of gummy I was going for.
Also, I wanted this recipe to be a little easier to make so I just used four boxes of sugar-free strawberry Jello powder!
So let’s get into it!
Table of Contents
Boil Three Cups Of Water
I wanted to make lots of candies so for this recipe I used four packets of gelatin and three cups of water. This amount made 90 gummies from my pretty large heart-shaped gummy molds!
First, I boiled the three cups of water (this will make the gelatin dissolve easily without clumping up).
Pour Jello Into the Boiling Water
After the water boiled, I took the water off the heat and and added my sugar-free strawberry Jello packets! The Jello dissolved perfectly and just needed some whisking and it was completely incorporated!
Be careful of splashes at this point, this stuff stains like crazy!
Once everything was dissolved, it was time to add all the amazing supplements!
Add Supplement Powders to the Mixture
I ended up adding four supplements to the jello; collagen, Vitamin B12, Glutathione, and Vitamin D.
I chose these because they each have amazing hair and skin benefits AND they don’t add any weird tastes to the gummies! Here is a little bit of information on each of the supplements I put in the gummies and why they are so great for skin, hair, and nails!
Collagen
Collagen is one of the most well-known supplements for your skin. We lose collagen as we age but thankfully, supplementing with collagen can strengthen, hydrate and transform our skin!
In this study of 69 middle aged women, half of the women supplemented with collagen and the other half were given a placebo. The study showed a significant increase in elasticity and moisture in the group who were given the supplement!
I added three tablespoons of collagen to the gummies and whisked the mixture until there were no clumps.
Vitamin D
Vitamin D is one of my all-time favorite supplements to take. It’s amazing how much of a boost I get in energy and mood just from taking some vitamin D.
Vitamin D is an anti inflammatory and antioxidant which can calm down acne and prevent skin degradation. It also helps promote cell turnover to reveal fresh new skin!
I only used about a teaspoon in these gummies because it had a slight sour taste and I didn’t want to make these candies too tart. It dissolved very easily and only needed a quick whisking
Vitamin B12
B12 is such an important supplement for so many of us who are deficient in it (which is a lot of us!).
It is vital for methylation and cell production. Part of the process of our skin aging is due to our damaged skin cells creating clone skin cells that have the same mutations. Having proper methylation helps keep your skin from mutating and replicating the mutated cells.
It also is an amazing mood booster and nothing is more beautiful than a smile 😉
I added half a tablespoon of B12 to the gummies which came out to a full daily dose of b12 per ten gummies. The B12 was also hot pink! It made my gummies even brighter in color which was awesome <3
Glutathione
Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that can do wonders for your skin, hair, and nails. It helps neutralize free radicals, which can cause oxidative stress and damage to your cells. This damage can contribute to premature aging, so incorporating glutathione into your gummies is a great way to help keep your skin looking youthful and radiant.
In addition to its antioxidant properties, glutathione has been shown to improve skin elasticity and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also promotes the production of other antioxidants in the body, making it a fantastic addition to your beauty routine.
I added one tablespoon of glutathione to the gummies, ensuring that each gummy contained a good amount of this powerful antioxidant. Just like the other supplements, I whisked it into the mixture until it was fully dissolved.
Time to Pour the Gummies into the Molds!
Pouring gummy mixture into molds Once you’ve added all of your supplements and given the mixture a good whisk, it’s time to pour it into your silicone molds. Using a small vessel with a spout, like a measuring cup or a beaker, makes this step much easier and less messy.
Carefully fill each cavity in the mold with the gummy mixture, making sure not to overfill them. If you have any bubbles or foam on the surface, gently skim them off with a spoon before pouring.
Let the Gummies Set in the Fridge
Gummies setting in the fridge Place the filled molds in the fridge for at least 30 minutes, or until the gummies have set and are firm to the touch. Once they’re ready, gently pop them out of the molds and marvel at your adorable, delicious, and nutritious creations!
Store the gummies in an airtight container in the fridge, where they should keep for several weeks – if they last that long!
Enjoy Your Tasty, Health-Boosting Treats
Congratulations! You’ve just made a batch of scrumptious, keto-friendly gummy candies that are not only a satisfying sweet treat but also packed with vitamins and supplements to support your skin, hair, and nails.
